Executive Summary
As part of upgrading our infrastructure to a virtualized environment for improved performance and scalability, we’ve been populating databases and processing live updates to keep product information current. During the initial database seeding, a bug caused certain unchanged products to be excluded, preventing them from appearing online. This issue has been addressed to ensure all products are accurately displayed.
Description of the issue
As part of upgrading our infrastructure to a virtualized setup, boosting performance, reliability, and scalability - we populate the databases and listen to live updates ensuring that products are up to date. This new environment has been running for an extended period of time to ensure that it is reliable.
Apart from listening to live updates to products (content, availability, etc.) we also perform an initial seed of the database.
In the initial seeding process there was a bug, causing products that weren’t being edited or changed to end up missing from the seeding process resulting in them not showing up Online.
Actions taken
We’ve reviewed the database seeding process and fixed the issue and the bug.
As this was a one-time update, the issue will not re-occur.
